Something is calling.
Every oak woodland still standing, every river that still runs, every acre of working farmland that hasn’t disappeared under pavement. It’s here because someone answered a call to protect it. This year, Sequoia Riverlands Trust is asking Central Valley residents to do the same. Not someday. Now.
time to make a move

There’s a moment when caring about a place stops being enough. When love for the land turns into something closer to responsibility. Maybe it happens on a walk through Kaweah Oaks Preserve, watching light move through 200-year-old valley oaks that almost weren’t here for you to see. Maybe it happens reading about how fast open space is disappearing from California’s heartland, or how precious every drop of water in the Central Valley has become. However it arrives, it arrives as a question: if not now, when? If not us, who?
Conservation has never been a passive act. The oak woodlands, the river corridors, the working farms, the wildlife habitat that make this valley what it is… none of it survives on sentiment alone. It survives because people heard that call and moved. They gave. They showed up. They came back. They kept a promise to a place, year after year.
That’s what Move is. Not a campaign about a feeling, a campaign about what a feeling becomes when you act on it. The land is calling. The window to protect what matters is real, and it’s closing faster than most people realize. The question isn’t whether you care. It’s whether you’ll move.
There’s no gift too small and no gesture too quiet. A $10,000 gift is movement. A $10 monthly gift is movement. An hour spent volunteering is movement. What matters isn’t the size of the act. It’s the decision to stop watching and start participating.
ways to move
However you move, move.
Every one of these is a real, meaningful way to move the needle toward $250,000, and toward a Central Valley where open space, clean water, and working lands are still here for the next generation. Pick the one that’s yours.

we move together
No single person, gift, or organization protects a landscape. Conservation is built by landowners and students, tribal partners and volunteers, farmers and donors, scientists and storytellers, each finding their place within something larger. Every month this fall, meet one more person whose story is part of this movement.
As the General Manager of the Greater Kaweah Groundwater Sustainability Agency and former SRT Board member, Mark has spent years showing up, meeting after meeting, project after project. What’s your move this year? Every gift to Move counts, whatever its size.
A young person discovers SRT preserves and their life is forever altered. Come back November 1 to be inspired and hear their story.
Coming Soon.
The Land is calling. What will you do?
Every gift, every new monthly member, every hour volunteered gets us closer, and gets the Central Valley closer to a future where open space, clean water, and working lands are still here to protect. The timing matters. Today’s decision shapes tomorrow’s landscape.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Where does my gift actually go?
Every gift to Move supports SRT’s general conservation work protecting oak woodlands and river corridors, restoring habitat, keeping preserves open to the public, and partnering with landowners, tribal communities, and Central Valley schools. Gifts are unrestricted, which means they go where the need is greatest that year rather than to one single project. - Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Sequoia Riverlands Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You’ll receive an emailed receipt for your records. - What’s the difference between a one-time gift and joining the Enduring Lands Collective?
A one-time gift is a single contribution, given whenever you’re ready. The Enduring Lands Collective is SRT’s monthly giving program; recurring gifts, starting at $10 a month, that add up to steady support all year. Both count fully toward the Move goal. - Can I change or cancel my monthly gift?
Yes, at any time. Monthly giving is meant to flex with you. - Does my employer match gifts?
Many employers match employee donations to nonprofits, sometimes doubling or tripling your gift at no extra cost to you. Check with your HR or benefits team to see if your company offers this. - Can I give in ways other than a credit card? Stock, a donor-advised fund, or an IRA distribution?
Yes. Click here to reach out and SRT’s team can walk you through it. - How do I sponsor an event?
Sponsorship packages are available across SRT’s signature events, including Evening Under the Oaks, the Holiday Market, and Breakfast on the Bluff. Investments & Partnerships Officer Jason McNally can share current packages and benefits. - Do I need experience to volunteer?
No experience necessary, just a willingness to show up. Opportunities range from trail maintenance and habitat restoration to event support and education programs, with options for individuals, families, and groups. Click here to submit a volunteer interest form. - How do I include SRT in my estate plan?
Chief Investments & Partnerships Officer Phil Daubenspeck can walk you through your options, from a simple bequest in your will to more involved planned-giving vehicles. - Is it safe to give online?
Yes. Gifts are processed through FundraiseUp, a secure, encrypted donation platform. - Who can I contact with other questions?
