Join a morning of harvesting elderberries at Kaweah Oaks Preserve!

This year’s harvest will help support upcoming fundraising events, including Evening Under the Oaks and the Holiday Market. Participants will assist with gathering elderberries while learning more about this native plant and its ecological importance, and take home a small bag of berries as a thank you for their participation.

No experience is necessary. Staff will provide guidance and harvesting supplies.

Do I need harvesting experience?

No experience is necessary. Staff will provide instructions and guidance at the beginning of the event.

Is there a registration fee?

No. This event is free to attend, though donations are appreciated.

What should I wear and bring?

Please bring water, closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing that can get a little dirty. We also recommend sunscreen and a hat. All necessary work supplies will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own work gloves, but you are not required.

Can children attend?

Yes! Participants of all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Will I get to take elderberries home?

Yes! Participants will receive a small bag of elderberries as a thank you for helping with the harvest.

Can I bring a bucket and collect extra berries?

The event is focused on collecting berries for the upcoming fundraising efforts. Participants will receive a small bag of elderberries to take home. A larger public harvest may be offered later in the season.
