EMILY McCARTHY

Emily McCarthy works with Sequoia Riverlands Trust through UC Berkeley’s GrizzlyCorps Rural Community Climate Resilience Program. Originally from the East Coast, Emily graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in Environmental Studies and Ecological Agriculture. After her time in Vermont, she spent two years farming and ranching in Maine, California, and Senegal. Through her work, Emily is committed to ensuring reciprocal relationships between ranchers and rangeland monitoring programs. She believes in farmer and rancher representation in land management decisions, recognizes the high value of land steward knowledge, and is looking forward to partnering with grazing lessees to create a multi-perspective response to increasing pressures from drought and fire. Emily is excited to support SRT’s grazing partnerships, education programs, and overall mission to inspire love for conserved lands in the Southern Central Valley.
