Check out our calendar for what’s happening when. Given the limitations of the COVID-19 pandemic, many events are postponed or rescheduled. But let's keep in mind what a typical year looks like and look forward to better times ahead!
In the spring, enjoy wildflower walks on our preserves so you can see our Valley when it’s the most lush and green – and yellow, orange and purple. On a Saturday around Earth Day in April you might hit the trail for a 5K run at Kaweah Oaks Preserve, letting runners get close to nature and off of concrete. SRT also takes part in the City of Visalia’s annual Earth Day celebration.
Come summer, you might enjoy fishing days for SRT members at Dry Creek Preserve and Blue Oak Ranch Preserve, or perhaps summer camps and internships for young people. Outdoor family movies are screened outdoors at KOP.
Evening Under the Oaks has been a tradition in which the conservation community comes together with like-minded conservation enthusiasts, friends, and fans gather under Kaweah Oaks Preserve's massive legacy oak tree to meet, eat, and play as the sun sets and the stars come out above. Each year’s entertainment tells a story of the land we love so well. And the event's centerpiece is bestowed: the Alan George Conservation Award, SRT's highest honor.
October finds Halloween fun at KOP with a Zombie Run, while volunteers gather to do good works for Make A Difference Day. Our SRT Dry Creek Nursery opens for a series of public fall plant sales.
Winter may bring rain or fog, but it’s also time for some of the best hiking and nature viewing at our preserves. Take a walk after a big family gathering or holiday meal and reconnect with the outdoor world.
And don’t forget the SRT Holiday Open House at our Visalia office, for a good time to be had by all.
