New AmeriCorps team joins SRT for year of service

December 08, 2021 by Aaron

(VISALIA, CA) - SRT's mission is fulfilled with key collaboration from AmeriCorps Members who come to us each year from around the United States to work alongside SRT staff.

This year is no exception, with three new AmeriCorps Members. Devon Kelley is among the new crew joining SRT for her year of national AmeriCorps service. Her position is funded through a partnership with SRT and the Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership (SNAP).

A Berkeley native, Devon left the Bay Area to attend college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating with a BS in conservation biology and neurobiology. After working for the United States Forest Service conducting stream surveys in beautiful Montana and Idaho, Devon returned to California to serve her home state’s native flora and fauna. She hopes to attend graduate school along the Pacific coast studying marine ecology specifically related to benthic invertebrates and trophic ecology. Outside of environmental work, Devon enjoys long walks to the library, art of all sorts, kayaking, and oat milk cappuccinos.

Be sure and say a warm welcome when you see Devon at SRT's many educational and volunteer events over the coming year! And watch for upcoming Currents profiles on SRT's other AmeriCorps team members including Dimitri Katsiouleris and Emily McCarthy. We wish them all a great year ahead!
