February Grand Slam at SRT Preserves

Skies are dreary today, but in just weeks spring will be here and you'll want to get outside to enjoy the clean, fresh air and greenery. What better places to go than SRT's nature preserves!
So each Saturday in February, SRT will hold an event at a different preserve, to get you out in nature. Come to all four and you'll have a Grand Slam. We'll make it worth your while: Attend all four events, and we'll give you a prize package of SRT swag (T-shirt, hat, mug or water bottle) plus your own Western redbud tree to plant in your yard.
The events you'll need to attend to hit that Grant Slam are:
* Blue Oak Discovery Day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. February 3, 2018 at Blue Oak Ranch Preserve in Springville. Take a hike, help SRT staff with a project, or just enjoy a picnic lunch at the preserve. Guest speaker TBA.
* Sequoia Scurry 5K Race, 8 a.m. to noon February 10, 2018 at Dry Creek Preserve in Lemon Cove. You can register to run in this race at http://www.sole2soulsports.com/ or come watch others while checking out our demonstration garden.
* Kaweah Oaks Preserve Community Stewardship Day, 9 a.m. to noon on February 17, 2018 at KOP. Spend a few hours helping is with a task at KOP and we'll provide you with snacks and educational info.
* Lewis Hill Wildflower Walk, 9 a.m. to noon February 24, 2018 at Lewis Hill Preserve near Porterville. Our annual wildflower walk showcases two rare species, the striped adobe lily and San Joaquin adobe sunburst, but as befits a rare flower, you have to look a little for them - plus climb up the hill. Once atop, you can fly a kite or just take in the scenery that goes for miles. Note: There is a charge for this event ($10 for SRT members, $15 for nonmembers, $5 for students).
Make sure you check in with an SRT staff member at each event so we know you came. Those of you who make it to all four events will not only have great memories, but some cool merchandise too.
