Do something!

If your plan for the new year includes more time in nature or more volunteer work, SRT has some great days coming up for you. Check out this flyer full of good times to be had at our nature preserves from now until the weather gets too hot this summer.
If gardening is your thing, consider coming to our Friday Dry Creek Preserve days, held from 9 a.m. to noon most Fridays from now through June. You can help us plant seeds in the Native Plan Nursery, or clean up and replant our Demonstration Garden, which shows how native and drought-tolerant plants can make excellent specimens for gardens all around the area. Contact Dana at dana@sequoiariverlands.org for more details.
Maybe Kaweah Oaks Preserve is your favorite place. If so, come to one or more of our Community Stewardship Days, held from 9 a.m. to noon the third Saturday of the month through June. We'll be doing a variety of tasks including weeding, planting, irrigating and general clean-up depending on the season and what's happening in nature at the time. We can also accommodate groups that would like to help out at KOP, so shoot Bud Darwin an email at bud@sequoiariverlands.org if you'd like to come on one of these Saturdays or another day with your group. The work on these days can be challenging, but we try to make it fun for our help with food and a guest speaker.
Then for those of you in the southeast part of the county, check out of monthly Discovery Days at Blue Oak Ranch Preserve in Springville. The first Saturday of the month, SRT opens the preserve from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., for some morning restoration work followed by lunch and a guest speaker. Or you can just come and hike this beautiful site and enjoy the scenery. Keep checking back here or to the SRT Facebook page for information on who each month's featured speaker will be.
Let's make 2018 the best year yet for you, SRT and our nature preserves!
