Volunteer this summer at KOP, Dry Creek

July 13, 2017 by Diane

It may be hot outside, but there's still work to be done at SRT's nature preserves. Want to help us make our visitors' experiences the best it can be? We're having volunteer days every Friday and Saturday through September, early in the morning before the days get too hot.

Fridays, we'll be at Dry Creek Preserve from 9 a.m. to noon, primarily working on the Demonstration Garden, designed to show how low-water plantings can be beautiful and functional. We'll also have some work for volunteers to do in the Native Plant Nursery on-site. Winter's rains left Dry Creek looking better than ever, come help make it the best it can be.

On Saturdays, we'll be at Kaweah Oaks Preserve from 8 a.m. to noon. Removing invasive species will be our main activity these days, but we'll have other jobs set for us by SRT's Conservation Department, too. It's not all about hard work, though - we love giving volunteers an inside look at what's happening at KOP, including new trails and educational experiences.

Groups are welcome as well as individuals and students, so don't be shy, come on out. The only time we won't be there is the weekend of July 21-22, when SRT staff will be attending the Dark Sky Festival at Sequoia National Park.
