SequoiaFest!

April 05, 2017 by Diane

Sequoia Riverlands Trust is about all things Sequoia, and we've decided that's a reason to celebrate. So on May 18, 2017, we'll kick off a new event: Sequoia Fest.

Held in downtown Visalia from 4 to 8 p.m., the event will be a night of fun, music, and good times - free! Plus there will be food (and beer) from our new Sequoia friends, Sequoia Brewing. It's also opening night for the downtown Visalia Farmers Market, so you can also pick up some produce for a yummy meal of your own making later.

The occasion has a serious side, though - it's about helping SRT get enough funds to purchase a used truck. With our Native Plant Nursery supplying plants for businesses and homes, our Education and Volunteer Department taking on restoration work at all six of SRT's Tulare County preserves, and our Conservation team doing easement monitoring across an 8-county swath of California, you can see we really need a truck!

Up to now we've rented or used staff vehicles, but it's gotten to the point where owning a truck will save SRT money. We don't need fancy - just a solid used truck with a tow package, preferably with a dual cab to haul more people. We working with another SequoiaFest partner, Ed Dena's of Visalia, to find such a vehicle once we raise the funds.

We estimate we'll need about $15,000 for our truck, and we already raised nearly $5000, so we're doing pretty well. We've just kicked off an online crowdfund, too, for donation - check it out at: https://www.generosity.com/education-fundraising/used-truck-for-sequoia-riverlands-trust/x/16553486
Please share this with your friends too! No donation is too small, and we'll have great gifts for those who donate.

We think SequoiaFest will be great fun, and we hope we can do it every spring. So come out and make the first one a success - thanks in advance for all your help!
