Dog Walk comes to Kaweah Oaks for Take It Outside, California

April 25, 2016 by Aaron

Californians are being urged to “take it outside” on April 30. The first “Take It Outside, California” event organized by the California Council of Land Trusts.

As part of the statewide event lineup, Sequoia Riverlands Trust, owner of Kaweah Oaks Preserve and many other publicly accessible natural lands, will entice Central Californians outdoors with various events including a dog walk at Kaweah Oaks Preserve from 9-10:30 a.m.

As many local dog lovers know, all SRT preserves are leashed-dog-friendly, giving your canine a great place to hike in nature. If you’re looking for a little more company than just your four-legged friends, come out for this walk – socialization for you and your dogs! SRT Development Director Diane Hayes will lead a dog walk on several of KOP’s trails. So wear comfortable shoes and hats, and bring treats and water for your furry friends (KOP does have a drinking fountain if more water is needed). All sizes of dogs are welcome, but dogs should be used to -- and enjoy -- walking on dirt paths. Dogs that don’t play well with others should remain at home.

Hayes has trained her own dogs in obedience and agility, achieving titles in both, and loves to talk about and walk dogs. To sign up, call or email Diane at diane@sequoiariverlands.org or 559-738-0211 ext. 108.
