Sequoia Riverlands Trust appoints new Development and Communications Directors
Visalia, CA – Sequoia Riverlands Trust (http://www.sequoiariverlands.org/index.html) announced today that Kelly Ryan and Scott Artis have joined this growing regional non- profit land trust. Kelly comes with a wealth of experience within the Television Broadcast Industry, having spent the last twenty years as a reporter and anchor in Sacramento, Denver, Charlotte, San Francisco and San Diego.
She also worked as a producer for Food Network, HGTV and Style Network. She began her career at NBC in Bakersfield covering a variety of stories involving farming, ranching, agri-business and other Valley issues. She has covered Presidential visits, economic summits, fires, flooding, riots and did a series of special reports on the artist Christo’s “Umbrellas” Project through the Tejon Pass. She graduated from UC Berkeley and studied journalism at Stanford University.
“My Grandfather was a farmer and I know he would be delighted I am taking my story-telling abilities and using them to tell the compelling stories of the people and the amazing landscape in the southern Sierra Nevada and San Joaquin Valley. Scott Artis has more than a decade's worth of experience spanning for-profit and nonprofit sectors in research, public education, management and development. In addition to a strong track record in business growth and development, he has executed community-based programs for the protection of native plants, animals, and their natural communities, which includes conservation and education outreach projects. Scott holds degrees in Biology and Environmental Sciences and has complemented his studies with a Masters certificate in Environmental Resource Management.
