Click here for directions. \n \nWhy Lewis Hill Matters\nLewis Hill is one of the few places where the Striped Adobe Lily\, a threatened wildflower\, continues to survive. This tiny bloom depends on the preserve’s unusual serpentine soils—rocky\, mineral-rich terrain that supports plant and animal life found almost nowhere else. Along the trail\, sweeping wildflower displays\, burrowing owls\, and a variety of bird species reveal how geology and biology intersect in this sensitive habitat. \n \nWhat to Expect\nThis is a moderate hike over uneven terrain and natural surfaces. The experience is self-guided\, allowing exploration at a personal pace with staffed stations along the route focused on geology\, birding\, and wildflowers.
