DESCRIPTION:Friday\, July 24 | 8:30 AM–12:30 PM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDiscover the amazing wildlife that call Kaweah Oaks Preserve home. \n\n\n\nAdventure at Kaweah Oaks Preserve: Day #2 invites campers to discover the incredible wildlife and ecosystems that make the preserve unique. Through hands-on activities\, outdoor exploration\, and creative reflection\, participants will learn how animals and plants interact with one another and the habitats they call home. \n\n\n\nThroughout the morning\, campers will rotate through interactive activity stations exploring native and invasive species\, bird identification and birding\, nature journaling\, and animal migration. Each activity encourages observation\, critical thinking\, and a deeper understanding of the natural world. \n\n\n\nWhether spotting birds along the trail\, learning about local ecosystems\, or recording discoveries in a nature journal\, students will leave with new skills\, lasting memories\, and a deeper appreciation for the wildlife that surrounds them. \n\n\n\nProgram Details\n\n\n\n\nDate: Friday\, July 24\n\n\n\nTime: 8:30 AM–12:30 PM\n\n\n\nWho: Students entering grades 4–8\n\n\n\nCost: $45/participant\n\n\n\nRegistration: Registration is managed by the City of Visalia Parks & Recreation Department. Sun protection\, such as a hat or sunscreen\, are also always a good idea! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWill activities take place outdoors?\nYes! Campers will spend the morning exploring Kaweah Oaks Preserve. Activities are designed to make the most of the outdoors while allowing for shade\, water breaks\, and rest as needed. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat are the drop off and pick up times?\nDrop off will begin at 8:00 AM with the program beginning at 8:30 PM. DESCRIPTION:Friday\, July 24 | 9:00–11:30 AM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHelp grow native plants at Dry Creek Nursery through propagation\, plant care\, and hands-on volunteer projects. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDry Creek Nursery is home to thousands of California native plants grown for habitat restoration projects\, educational programs\, community landscapes\, and plant sales. Throughout the year\, volunteers help care for these plants while learning more about California’s unique native ecosystems. \n\n\n\nVolunteer activities vary based on seasonal nursery needs and may include potting seedlings\, filling containers with soil\, propagation\, seed collection\, greenhouse organization\, transplanting\, weeding\, moving plants throughout the nursery\, and general nursery maintenance. \n\n\n\nNo experience is necessary. Tasks can be adapted for a wide range of ages\, abilities\, and comfort levels\, with opportunities for both seated and active work. Staff will provide instructions and guidance for all activities\, and volunteers of all skill levels are welcome. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat kinds of activities will I be doing?\nActivities vary throughout the year based on nursery needs and may include potting plants\, propagation\, seed collection\, transplanting\, weeding\, organizing nursery materials\, and general plant care. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat should I wear and bring?\nClose-toe shoes and comfortable clothing that can get a little dirty are recommended. Bring a water bottle\, sunscreen\, and a hat. All necessary work supplies will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own work gloves\, but you are not required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan children attend?\nYes! Volunteer activities can be adapted for a variety of ages.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat if I need to sit or take breaks?\nMany nursery activities can be completed while seated\, and staff are happy to help find a task that works for your comfort level and activities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I leave early or arrive late?\nYes.
