SUMMARY:Nursery Volunteer Day
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, December 18 | 9:00–11:30 AM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHelp grow native plants at Dry Creek Nursery through propagation\, plant care\, and hands-on volunteer projects. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDry Creek Nursery is home to thousands of California native plants grown for habitat restoration projects\, educational programs\, community landscapes\, and plant sales. Throughout the year\, volunteers help care for these plants while learning more about California’s unique native ecosystems. \n\n\n\nVolunteer activities vary based on seasonal nursery needs and may include potting seedlings\, filling containers with soil\, propagation\, seed collection\, greenhouse organization\, transplanting\, weeding\, moving plants throughout the nursery\, and general nursery maintenance. \n\n\n\nNo experience is necessary. Tasks can be adapted for a wide range of ages\, abilities\, and comfort levels\, with opportunities for both seated and active work. Whether you’re interested in learning about native plants\, connecting with others\, or supporting local conservation efforts\, Nursery Volunteer Days offer a welcoming way to get involved. \n\n\n\nAlong the way\, volunteers have the opportunity to connect with SRT staff\, learn more about Dry Creek Preserve\, and gain a behind-the-scenes look at the work that supports restoration and conservation efforts throughout the region. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat to Expect\n\n\n\n\nPotting\, propagation\, seed collection\, and other seasonal nursery projects\n\n\n\nA chance to learn about native plants\, restoration\, and conservation efforts\n\n\n\nTasks that can be adapted to different ages\, abilities\, and comfort levels\n\n\n\nOpportunities to connect with staff and learn more about Dry Creek Preserve and Sequoia Riverlands Trust\n\n\n\nA welcoming environment where volunteers can learn\, connect\, and make a difference together\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy It Matters\n\n\n\nNative plants play an important role in supporting wildlife\, pollinators\, and healthy ecosystems throughout the Central Valley. Plants grown at Dry Creek Nursery are used in habitat restoration projects\, educational programs\, and community landscapes throughout the region. \n\n\n\nBy volunteering at the nursery\, participants help increase the availability of native plants while supporting conservation efforts that benefit both people and wildlife. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\n\n\n\nClick on a dropdown arrow to read more. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDo I need experience to volunteer?\nNo experience is necessary. Staff will provide instructions and guidance for all activities\, and volunteers of all skill levels are welcome. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat kinds of activities will I be doing?\nActivities vary throughout the year based on nursery needs and may include potting plants\, propagation\, seed collection\, transplanting\, weeding\, organizing nursery materials\, and general plant care. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat should I wear and bring?\nClose-toe shoes and comfortable clothing that can get a little dirty are recommended.
